Your inevitable conversation about artificial intelligence: Making it work

AI has been hogging the tech headlines for some time now, and it’s easy to get lost somewhere between the real innovation and the hyperbole. You may have seen some spectacular, mind bending artwork or a simple tool that aims to make life easier.

With the rapid rise of AI and the proliferation of these tools, there’s certainly an opportunity for businesses in just about any sector to save time, money and effort when it comes to administrative, onerous tasks within a company.

Using AI for automation

Writing, whether we like it or not, is a fundamental part of work. AI can help with everything from day-to-day emails to pieces of creative marketing. We’re all at different levels when it comes to writing – some of us are naturals, others would rather put it off until it disappears somewhere at the bottom of our to-do list.

Thankfully, tools like ChatGPT (developed by OpenAI) are here to help. A natural language processing model, ChatGPT uses vast amounts of information data to construct writing based on user prompts. This could be an incredibly useful and indispensable tool for anyone who needs to create copy quickly.

Your new digital assistant

ChatGPT can also be used to automate tasks and integrate with existing workflows. For example, identifying trends in your existing data models, or keeping you up to date with developments in your sector.

The sky really is the limit, and with a little bit of technical help in getting it setup, you’ll find yourself wondering how you got by without it. Although it is worth noting that leaning too heavily on ChatGPT and similar AI tools can come at a cost. Should Google and other search engines recognise that you’re using AI writing tools to create copy, you’ll be penalised in the form of poor SEO.

See it as a helper, not a do-er

AI is here to help, not to do. At least in the context of ChatGPT and copy creation. If you’re not a strong writer or struggle with dyslexia, it’s a great solution. If you simply want to churn out blog content and don’t have the time, be careful, and ensure that you, at the very least, put your own tone of voice and structure into the final piece.

The safety and security of AI

Should you venture into workflows, APIs and feeds, always remember privacy and data security. Work with a professional to ensure that any information you’re exporting from your company to a third-party tool is well-protected. Understand the risks and possible exposure you may be subject to by implementing AI into your business.

We are truly at an inflection point when it comes to tools like ChatGPT and with the right implementation, they can supercharge your business and bring in levels of efficiency that humans simply cannot replicate. That said, remember, your business is made up of people, and some of your employees may have mixed feelings about AI. Tread carefully and be transparent over what you’re using and how.
