Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (Furlough)
The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme ended on 30 September 2021 and the last date to make a claim for September was 14 October 2021. The provision of furlough for employees during the height of the Coronavirus pandemic helped businesses that had been impacted to focus on financial planning by maintaining staff and growing the business in the future.
For claim periods from 1 November 2020, HMRC may accept late claims or amendments if you have:
- Taken reasonable care to try and claim on time.
- A reasonable excuse.
- Claimed as soon as your reasonable excuse no longer applies.
Details of what a reasonable excuse would include can be viewed at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/make-a-late-coronavirus-job-retention-scheme-claim?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=govuk-notifications&utm_source=2c5b859b-20a0-4f0e-9309-98aadccfa0fc&utm_content=daily
As soon as you are ready to make a late claim or amendment, you need to:
- Check if you have a reasonable excuse.
- Make sure you have all the information you need to process your claim.
- Contact HMRC using the helpline to check with an advisor if you can claim.
If your reasonable excuse is accepted, the advisor will process your claim over the phone.
