Clear planning. Fewer surprises. Peace of mind for the people who matter.
Most people know they should have a Will. Fewer feel confident that the one they have still reflects their wishes or their current reality.
Life moves on. Businesses grow. Families evolve. Tax rules change. But Wills are often written once and quietly forgotten, sometimes for decades. That’s where issues can arise.
Will reviews and bespoke Will planning
You’ve worked hard to build your wealth and your business, now it’s time to protect it.
How we help
Why your will might need reviewing
Over time, Wills can become out of date or no longer fit for purpose. Common reasons include:
- Significant changes in your asset base
- Business interests being created, sold or restructured
- Changes in family circumstances
- Outdated assumptions around tax and legislation
In other cases, Wills have been prepared using low cost templates that simply aren’t robust enough for business owners or families with more complex affairs.
And for some, there is no Will at all, leaving important decisions to be made by intestacy rules, rather than personal choice.
Why this matters
An outdated or poorly drafted Will can lead to:
- Assets passing to unintended beneficiaries
- Unnecessary inheritance tax
- Delays, additional costs and avoidable stress for your family
- Complications for surviving spouses or children
For business owners, the consequences
The benefits of a well structured Will
A well planned Will is about control and clarity. It can help to:
- Pass wealth to the next generation in a tax-efficient way
- Protect children and vulnerable beneficiaries
- Provide for a surviving spouse while safeguarding family wealth
- Reduce exposure to care home fees where appropriate
- Ensure business interests are dealt with clearly and sensibly
Most importantly, it gives certainty at a time when your family needs it most.
Is this right for you?
A Will review is particularly important if you:
- Don’t currently have a Will
- Prepared your Will many years ago
- Own a business or multiple properties
- Have a blended family or second marriage
