Introduce yourself…

Hi, I’m Sarah, I’m the Private Client Tax Director at Wilson Partners. I trained at a Big 4 and honed my expertise at a Top 15 firm before deciding to join Wilson Partners in May 2023 on their exciting journey.

Originally from Gosport, down in Hampshire, I moved to the Thames Valley area in 2015 and have recently (2023) bought a house in Didcot with my partner, Robert, and our two kittens, Gizmo and Goose.

Describe your role at Wilson Partners

My role at Wilson Partners is to advise clients on all things tax. My expertise lies in the Private Client sector, which usually means helping individuals with personal tax aspects or their businesses (whether that be sole trade, partnerships or owner managed companies, or property investments).

I help the team with complex compliance (Tax reporting) but spend most of my time on advisory, including Income Tax, Stamp Duty Land Tax, Capital Gains Tax and Inheritance Tax.

I particularly enjoy the Inheritance Tax aspects, including advice around tax efficient gifting, including the use of Trusts and Family Investment Companies.

Favourite drink in the office and out of the office

In the office – squash (or diluting juice per my Scottish partner!).

Out the office – that’s a tough one! Gin & Slim/White wine spritzer/Aperol Spritz/Amaretto Sour – depends on my mood and if drinking with company!

I have a Top 5 list (you can’t compare different genres!): Forrest Gump/Moulin Rouge/The Green Mile/Gladiator/Mean Girls

Favourite Food

Too difficult to pick! I enjoy Mexican, Italian, Chinese, Indian, Thai but also won’t pass up a good steak and chips (with a side of mac and cheese!).

Favourite Country/ Holiday

I love to travel and visit new places on holiday. My favourites so far are: Bali, Thailand and Canada.

Which cause/charity do you support?

Cancer Research UK – It truly shocks me that 1 in 2 of us will be diagnosed with cancer in our lifetimes. Raising money for this charity means a lot to me as my family, and so many people I know, have been affected by cancer.

Cats or Dogs?

Cats! I have 2 kittens called Gizmo and Goose (1980s film references – just in case you’re wondering!)

One thing that most people don’t know about you

I played netball against the under 21s Barbados national team.
