Introduce yourself

Hello I’m Ed Macpherson and am a Corporate Finance Manager at Wilson Partners.

I grew up in Maidenhead and enjoyed 4 years living in Bristol where I studied Economics before settling back down in sunny Maidenhead with my partner Georgia. After university I enjoyed 4 years at Grant Thornton doing my ACA exams whilst working in Audit before moving to Wilson Partners.

I am a massive sports fan and spend most my free time playing football, golf or going for a cycle. Anything to get outside in the fresh air. I passionately support Liverpool FC and try to go to Anfield as often as I can.

Describe your role at Wilson Partners

I joined the Wilson Partners corporate finance team in June 2021 and haven’t looked back! I help our clients on a range of due diligence and lead advisory deals across the lower mid-market. We are fortunate to deal with exciting businesses whilst working alongside our private equity, banking and corporate clients.

“Ed started his career with us on shaky ground, beating the boss in the Wilson Partners Golf Trophy on his 2nd day after claiming a generous handicap. I was highly concerned that mistake was a career stopper, however, his strong Scottish surname (despite the lack of accent) was enough to keep the patrons on side and since then Ed has become an integral part of the team. Always polite and approachable, Ed has a great demeanour about him that encompasses all of our values here at Wilson Partners. Ed has also completed his first aid and fire marshal training with us so he is a good man to be around!” – Dan James

Favourite drink in the office and out of the office

In the office = Coffee (flat white if I am being picky!)

Out of the office = Whisky or a Cider

Favourite Film

This is very difficult as it changes with mood but I would have to say either Wolf of Wall Street, Django or The Green Mile.

Favourite Hobby

Playing football and golf. I have found both sports to be a great way to meet people and get outdoors. I’m able play golf with my Dad, Grandad, brother and cousins which is something I consider myself very lucky to be able to do.

Favourite Food

I enjoy a good burger but have also really started to enjoy Japanese food in the last few years.

Favourite Country/ Holiday

My favourite holiday was travelling around America for a couple of months during the summer after my placement year. We spent time in New York, Florida, San Diego, LA, San Francisco and a big group of our friends met us in Las Vegas for the final leg of our trip.

My favourite country I have visited is Italy. The people we met were so friendly, their towns were incredible, and the food was out of this world.

One thing that most people don’t know about you

I once bumped into Mike Tyson in a sweet shop whilst he was getting Pick n’ Mix.
