Who are you?

I’m Chris, Director and co-founder of Wilson Partners.

What’s your role at Wilson Partners

I enjoy a mix of running our business and looking after a portfolio of owner-managed businesses delivering a range of compliance and advisory services.  When you run your own business, you know the issues that business owners are experiencing and can provide insights from your own experiences.

Favourite drink in the office and out of the office

I’ve never got hooked on coffee so its plain old water during the day.  Outside of the office, I’d usually go wine.

Favourite Film

Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.  Sacha Baron Cohen did a phenomenal job making a film that calls out prejudice and bigotry in a hilarious manner.

Favourite Hobby

When Coronavirus struck, like many people a lot of things I was used to doing became difficult to organise.  I ended up playing tennis regularly and it’s a great sport for a bit of competition with a good social side.  Sadly, Roger Federer has nothing to worry about at this stage.

Favourite Food

It depends where I am.  I always try to go for the local produce like the pizza in Naples or seafood in Galicia.  However, if there can only be one, then it has to be King Crab.  Not just the king of crabs, but the king of all food!

Favourite Country/ Holiday

My favourite holiday was a 9-month honeymoon travelling around the world but with more limited time these days I’d go with a combination of a long weekend in the Alps enjoying the mountains followed by a week on the beaches of northern Spain.

Cats or Dogs?

It depends what for.  I have had a couple of chances to do dog sledging in the Arctic and I would definitely choose a dog over a cat for that.

One thing that most people don’t know about you

When I was working in London in the early 2000s, I created a social media website which had 10,000 unique page views in its first 2 days of operation and went on to own its own football team.  Unfortunately it became a victim of the dotcom bust when we couldn’t raise the funds to pay the £5 a month hosting fees!

Ask one colleague to describe you

As one of the co-founders, Chris has always had a clear vision as to where the business needs to be and how best to get us there. He is technically brilliant and is known as our very own ‘technical guru’. Always striving to be the best version of himself and not only in the office, but also on the golf course and/or tennis courts, Chris’s competitive edge propels us our firm to the next level. Although he does love to support the local pop up pizza shop on a Friday, he is in fact a health conscious, sporty guy who loves a challenge, however big or small!
