Following on from our last book club read A Quiet Leadership, we selected ‘Jimmy Carr: Before & Laughter’ and we are pleased to share that everyone managed to finish this one!
Jimmy’s enthusiasm on the audiobook was as evident in the written pages of the book. He had us laughing, relating and even crying at some parts. In between the hilarious stories of his experiences over the years, there were a number of key life lessons which resonated with us.
Some of our main take aways:
- No one beats being you
- Quitting the things you don’t like frees up time for you to be doing the right things – don’t be ashamed of quitting when it’s the right choice for you
- Making tough decisions now are an investment in the future you
- When you win, you win and when you lose, you learn
- It’s never too late to start – you can always change what is going to happen
We all thoroughly enjoyed this one, but don’t feel it is an essential read for business. Some good laughs though! Our ratings:
Recommend: 8/10
Value: 6/10
Readability/Listening: 10/10
Next book – Nine Lies About Work by Ashley Goodall and Marcus Buckingham.
